More pictures are hitting the internet of Jaguar’s Type 01 launch car… and purists like me are tasking AI with creating versions in their favourite, yet unavailable, colour. (British Racing Green, obviously.)
Both look great. The green would be easier to live with. The red would get you noticed. It’s just that I’m not the type to wear red trousers. Never had a pair. Never will.
As Jaguar says itself, this car is a copy of nothing. So perhaps it’s only right that the launch colours leave familiar favourites behind and embrace something altogether bolder.
The hand-painted, satin-finished London Red featured here really is a glory. But with only ten reserved for the UK, I suspect most will end up with collectors. And perhaps they should.
If I could pick one up, nicely depreciated in five years’ time, would I drive it every day? Probably not. But I’d spend a hell of a lot of time looking at it.
Maybe that’s the point.
